The NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business is adding to its full-time research team and seeks a research associate with extensive research experience pertinent to our Quality Jobs and Wellbeing Research Initiative (80%) and additional support on our social science agenda (20%).

We recently launched a project focused on quality jobs. This work examines whether corporate financial benefits emerge when companies provide quality jobs. We draw from a resilience framework to operationalize quality jobs in dimensions of security, viability, and flexibility. We are using specialized data from ESG data providers for companies in the Russell 1000.

This work may also involve supporting our broader social science research agenda, which may involve studying worker wellbeing in supply chains, for example. This is a year-long position, and the potential to renew to additional years is currently dependent on future funding.

Job Responsibilities: Oversee the theoretical framing and literature review and synthesis of the quality jobs literature to be defined in conjunction with the Academic Research Director. Co-design appropriate analyzes for specific research questions.Assist in publications in the academic and business press. Manage students and interns working closely with the CSB research team. Oversee and manage feedback from research advisers. Assist with project proposal development, if needed. Develop workshop materials for work with partners to receive feedback on our work. Prepare presentations that promote the CSB research agenda for conference presentations, and represent the CSB at events.Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS MS with research experience or a Ph.D. in quantitative anthropology, political science, economics, sociology, organizational behavior or a relevant social science field. Research experience, proven evidence of literature review experience, and knowledge of the themes of quality jobs a must.Experience analyzing corporate financial data and applying traditional and multivariate statistics is a plus. Ability to gather, evaluate, and summarize published research on sustainable business practices; translate high-level concepts into meaningful learnings and tools for business leaders is a must. Ability to design and carry out original research. Excellent writing skills. Ability to manage simultaneously multiple research projects and deadlines.The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently, and also as part of a team, and be flexible to manage all aspects of the research process. Experience developing surveys, obtaining IRB, and analyzing surveys will be a plus in phase 2 of the project, though this is funding dependent.
