The Office of Vice Chancellor of Innovation (OVCI) at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a Director of Human Resources and Talent Management to provide strategic leadership for all HR matters for the office and all reporting units, including ACCC (IT services and infrastructure) and Extended Campus (online learning and adult education).  The Director will lead and oversee HR initiatives and implement a future-oriented talent strategy. 

Main Duties:

The Director will assess existing and future needs to develop and implement a talent management and recruitment strategy; evaluate employee compensation structure; and build an applicant pipeline to meet current and future business needs.  This position will develop metrics for all aspects of talent management and provide analyses and reports to forecast hiring needs and track turnover rates.  The Director will oversee annual performance evaluation process and develop continued professional and organizational development training and initiatives.


  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, training and development or related field. Master’s degree preferred.   At least five years experience in human resources, financial management or information systems. Experience developing/managing talent recruitment and retention strategies in higher ed, IT company, or other complex organization preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR practices and principles in the areas of recruitment and retention.
  • Proven ability to operate at both a strategic and tactical level. Program strategy development and execution experience preferred.
  • General knowledge of HR systems. Experience with Banner, Business Objects, HR Front End, Hire Touch, EDDIE, and View Direct, preferred.
