Five Acres (The Boys and Girls Aid Society of Los Angeles County) seeks an experienced Director of Human Resources. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and supervising a team of six, the Director of Human Resources provides strategic leadership and functional expertise to drive HR departmental expectations while ensuring compliance with Agency policies, mission and strategic plan. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing and directing all HR functions including employment, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations and services in support of the Agency. The Director of Human Resources must be a good problem-solver who is comfortable with the challenges of managing a large team of dedicated professionals and multi-site, 24/7 operations. A minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible human resources management experience is preferred, including four years as a supervisor. Employee relations experience and a working knowledge of all human resource activities and associated state and federal regulations are essential and expected. Current knowledge of California labor laws is strongly preferred. Although experience in a human services or nonprofit institution would be beneficial, it is not required. Bilingual skills in Spanish/English will be highly valued. A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a management-related area. SHRM certification is required, California credential strongly preferred.
