Key Responsibilities:

  • Main company contact with the labor unions, including grievance administration, arbitration preparation, union meetings, contract administration, and contract negotiation preparation.
  • Provide advice, counsel and direction to managers and supervisors regarding interpretation of union contract language, grievances, coaching and discipline.
  • Conduct investigations and maintain disciplinary and grievance protocols.
  • Represent the Company at Shop Committee meetings and process grievances through appropriate step progression.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and right had to VP, HR, Manufacturing Sites Leaders and Plant HR Managers in matters of Labor Relations.
  • Coordinate and administer recruiting and hiring procedures for Bargaining Unit employees.
  • Administer the Bargaining Unit Attendance Policy and FMLA for Bargaining Unit employees.
  • Assist legal department with employee lawsuits, complaints, and employment charges.
  • Actively engage in union avoidance efforts for non organized facilities.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field, plus 7+ years Labor Relations experience.
  • 15 years Labor Relations experience.
  • Broad understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State Labor Laws.
  • Ability to formalize and articulate the impact of labor relations strategies on business outcomes.
  • Knowledge and experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) systems (e.g., Ultimate Software- UltiPro, Kronos)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to interrelate with a wide range of clients.
