Responsibilities

Manages the administration and delivery of compensation programs and services at University Hospital, ensuring consistency with hospital and human resources practices and policies, as well as with the provisions of the various collective bargaining agreements. Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, collaborates within HR, and with management and staff of UH, to devise compensation strategies which are compatible with budgetary constraints and the business needs of the hospital. Assists the Director of Labor Relations with the negotiation, interpretation, and implementation of collective bargaining agreements (CBA) with the unions representing employees at University Hospital. Functions as a Hearing Officer at grievance hearings, and assists the Attorney General’s office, or designated outside counsel, in the representation of University Hospital at arbitrations or other administrative forums. Contributes to on-going collaborative labor-management relations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related area, plus five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in Human Resources, with at least two years handling compensation and labor relations issues specifically. Good computer skills, including Excel and Access, required. Strong problem-solving skills and excellent writing and verbal communication skills required, with the proven ability to interact with all levels of employees. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree requirement on a year for year basis.
