As the Biden-Harris administration begins, the environments surrounding labor are becoming even more uncertain because of the COVID-19 crisis. As employment relations/human resource (ER/HR) researchers, how can we approach labor issues under such uncertainty? In keeping with the annual meeting’s focus on the employment relationship in this current era of division and disruption, this year’s consortium will focus on how we as aspiring junior ER researchers can best approach and study these issues. While these times are undoubtedly challenging, they also present transformational opportunities for redefining worker power and representation. In the consortium, a prominent keynote speaker in our area will share their perspective on this topic. Also, a panel of faculty, who has recent experience as search committee members for ER/HR positions, will offer their thoughts and advice on how we can achieve success in this unique academic job market.
11:15 - 11:45 am ET: Participant introductions and welcome to the consortium by co-chairs
